We look forward to seeing everyone next week at our 56th Annual Convention. We have expanded our accommodations for overflow to include the Brunswick Plantation, which is only 4 miles away. We wanted to remind everyone that Friday night is the Educational Foundation Reverse Drawing followed by our popular hospitality suites at the resort. This year’s Saturday night dinner attire is conservative casual (we recommend Hawaiian shirts to go along with the Luau). For more details visit our website www.ncnga.org. Read More…

Contact Congress to express support for H.R. 1384  NGAUS Share on LinkedinShare on TwitterShare on Facebook

NGAUS strongly supports H.R. 1384, the Reserve Components Benefits Parity Act, introduced on March 8 by Reps. Steven Palazzo of Mississippi, Tim Walz of Minnesota, Trent Franks of Arizona and Carol Shea-Porter of New Hampshire. The legislation will eliminate the benefits disparity created by the 12304b mobilization authority, which was created in 2012 to allow the Department of Defense to deploy reserve forces for pre-planned missions in support of combatant commanders. However, unlike the active component, those reserve forces are not provided pre- and post-mobilization TRICARE, post-9/11 G.I. A family atmosphere has long been rooted in the 145th Airlift Wing and the Dietz family champions this statement. Senior Airmen Jonathan Dietz, of the 145th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, is the youngest son of Chief Master Sgt. Susan Dietz of the 145th Medical Group. Jonathan Dietz is deployed for the first time in support of Operation Freedom’s Sentinel as crew chief on the C-130 Hercules aircraft, but he is different in that his mother has been there to support and guide him throughout the process. Many veterans are suffering from mental disorders, including depression and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Report: VA inaccurately tracking veteran wait times in North Carolina, Virginia  Military.com Share on LinkedinShare on TwitterShare on Facebook

Thousands of veterans in the Mid-Atlantic region waited longer than 30 days for medical care at Department of Veterans Affairs facilities last year but were excluded from private-sector treatment due to errors in VA wait-time data, government inspectors have found. The VA inspector general’s office issued a report Thursday detailing wait times for veterans at 12 facilities in North Carolina and Virginia that stretched beyond the 30-day goal established by the VA.  Read More…

Americans seem to be closing their eyes to a problem that’s growing, despite exhaustive research into the ramifications. It’s time to wake up and smell the coffee: We don’t get enough sleep. Insufficient sleep has been declared a “public health problem” by the CDC, which attributed an increased risk of chronic conditions such as diabetes, depression, cancer and reduced productivity to a shortage of shut-eye.
