North Carolina’s Healthcare Systems Need Workers Like You – Support the Fight Against COVID-19! NCNGA

As North Carolina prepares for another large surge of cases and hospitalizations during this pandemic, NC DHHS is undertaking an effort to bolster staff to join our health care systems and facilities to ensure we can prevent illness and care for those impacted by the virus. A crucial part of that effort is recruiting workers (clinically licensed and non-licensed) to supplement the health care workforce in hospitals, EMS agencies, and long-term care facilities. If you’re interested in working for NC healthcare systems please complete this form: https://nc.readyop.com/fs/4dsL/94d7 to provide contact information that can be shared with healthcare systems so they can hire, onboard and train personnel to support their daily operations.

We are recruiting for workers that can assist in the following duties:

  • Data Entry
  • Vital Sign Checks
  • EKG Procedure
  • Pulse Oximetry
  • X-Ray Procedures
  • Laboratory Functions
  • Answering Phones
  • Supporting with Activities of Daily Living
  • Driving Ambulances
  • Various other tasks

Should you have any questions please contact OEMSStaffingSupport@dhhs.nc.gov

The North Carolina National Guard Education Foundation provides college scholarships to members of the NC National Guard and their Families. Since 1968, the Foundation has awarded over $1.5 million in college scholarships to nearly 2,000 individuals.

The 2022-2023 application period is now open and all applications must be postmarked by 1 February 2022 for college students and 1 March 2022 for high school students.

The scholarships range in value from $600 for Community College attendees, to $10,000 scholarship we award in partnership with the SECU Foundation. Most Community College scholarships are $600, while the typical four-year college scholarships are $1,200. There are two categories of scholarships. Each applicant can and is encouraged to apply for both categories.

General and Special Memorial Scholarships: Candidates are evaluated on five criteria areas including financial need, academic performance, citizenship, leadership and ‘other;’ this latter category taking into account various subjective evaluations such as special circumstances of the candidate.

Academic Excellence & Leadership: Two scholarships – one each to a current high school senior and one to a current college applicant — for excellence in academics and leadership. These applicants will complete the AEL application form and do not have to provide financial/ income information.

January 12th — Today in Guard History National Guard

1942
San Francisco, CA – “Combat Team X” sails for Singapore aboard the transport steamer President Coolidge. It is made up of ten North American 0-47 aircraft with crews drawn from several mobilized Guard observation squadrons. With the impending fall of Singapore to the Japanese the Team was diverted to Australia where for a brief period it flew antisubmarine patrols. Each plane carried two depth charges though they spotted no enemy boats. By summer the Team was broken up and its men were reassigned to other Army Air Corps units in theater.
