The North Carolina Army National Guard recently received an inspection from National Guard Bureau’s Combined Logistics Review Team (CLRT). The CLRT’s mission; assess the logistics posture for the NC Guard. The CLRT is a comprehensive inspection conducted every three years by NGB. The North Carolina Army National Guard received an overall score of 89 percent. Read More…

This year’s tournament honors SFC Russell Thorington’s retirement from the NCARNG. SFC Thorington has been a longtime supporter of the NCNGAEF and he is retiring in November 2016. A ceremony was held at Lincolnton’s James W. Warren Citizens Center to welcome home soldiers from the Lincolnton Army National Guard’s Alpha 1st 113th Field Artillery Battalion. The Defense Department is close to releasing its updated policy for arming troops at facilities in the United States following several attacks, including the shooting deaths of four Marines and a sailor last July, a Pentagon spokesman said recently. The policy, which could be unveiled by September, will further clarify commanders’ authority to allow service members to carry and store weapons on and off military installations. The guidance will regulate privately owned and military-issued weapons, said Army Maj. Jamie Davis, a Pentagon spokesman. Read More…
