The United States Army announced the implementation of the Associated Units pilot, establishing formal relationships between identified units across the Active Army, Army Reserve, and the Army National Guard that would allow those units to train together before deployment. “Much of America’s Army’s capacity is resident in the Reserve Components and we must rely more heavily on them to meet the demands of a complex global environment,” Chief of Staff of the U.S. Army, Gen. One hundred fifty-five millimeter high explosive rounds rain from the sky, while the sonic boom of the impact follows and the smoke clears from the barrel of a M109A6 howitzer paladin at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, from March 10 to 11, 2016. North Carolina National Guard soldiers assigned to the 1st Battalion, 113th Field Artillery Regiment, are the first Army component in the U.S. to receive new fully chromed barrels to be seated onto howitzer paladins during their annual training. Families welcoming home more than 60 local North Carolina National Guard soldiers followed a path marked in yellow balloons. Their soldiers needed no such guide. After the plane carrying members of the 1st Combined Arms Battalion, 252nd Armor Regiment landed at Fort Bragg’s Pope Field, they could see their loved ones gathered nearby, waving flags and holding homemade signs. On March 22, 1847 in Vera Cruz, Mexico, American troops under the command of General Winfield Scott, who started his military career as a Coronet (lowest ranking officer of cavalry in early 19th century) in the Virginia militia, besiege and bombard the coastal city forcing it to capitulate after six days. The Army Materiel Command is enjoying results from Army National Guard training. Sixty members of the North Carolina Army National Guard’s 211th Military Police Company supported the Military Ocean Terminal Sunny Point, Provost Marshal Office by providing physical security and law and order operations at the installation Feb. 18 through March 5. MOTSU, one of two military ocean terminals that ship munitions across the globe, falls under the AMC umbrella. Read More…
